Out with the old, in with the...older.
Sometimes, when we're looking at the latest trends or checking out celebrity outfits, we sort of feel like Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada. The truth is, there really isn't much in fashion that ends up being groundbreaking (florals really do dominate every spring), but in the case of 2020, we don't mind it one bit.
That's because this year, some of the biggest and best styles from the '60s, '70s, and '80s are making a comeback. We're ready to wear crocheted tops on all our summer getaways. We'll be embracing extra-large collars, and can't wait to fill our closets with various polka-dot pieces (fashion clown 2020, here we come).
All in all, it seems like the overall goal of the next 365 is to have more fun with our wardrobe. Take a look at what's getting a round two, ahead, then plan accordingly.
From the '60s
Give a nod to the OG musical festival scene with crafty knitwear and free-spirited prints.
1. Psychedelic Florals
Sure, classic and feminine is still cool, but for 2020, the floral print is getting a small makeover. Options will be full of bright, vibrant colors and appear more abstract, giving outfits a groovy little twist.

Nope, they're not just for the beach. The lightweight material makes this bag a summer staple, and you'll find it's just as versatile as any old satchel, pairing well with both sundresses and jeans.

Nothing says '60s quite like a crocheted design. These tops and dresses are a great (and breezy!) way to incorporate color and print into your outfit, whether you layer them over a T-shirt or opt to show a little skin.
From the '70s
It's time to channel your inner stage idol with Jagger-worthy silhouettes — including the perfect pair of flares.

As we've mentioned, flares are back, but that's not the only '70s denim trend that's resurfaced. We'll also be investing in a knee-length denim skirt, to be styled with T-shirts, button-downs, and knee-high boots.

Every so often, different collar styles are added into the rotation (remember the child-like Peter Pan look of 2010?). This year's version is long and pointy, and will no doubt give ensembles a little something extra when layered under blazers and sweaters.
6. Skinny Ribbed Shirts
It's just like your favorite tee, only more eye-catching and fitted. This shirt style looks pretty sleek when tucked into skirts or pants, and sometimes includes contrasting details around the collar, turning it into a statement piece.
7. Retro Bags
Geometric cutouts, suede, stripes, woven options — the more it looks like it came from the back of your mom's closet, the better.
From the '80s
A few key essentials from this era? Flashy party clothes and oversized menswear.
8. Polka-Dots
This print may be whimsical and slightly in-your-face, but that doesn't mean it's tough to style. Solid-colored items will help balance it out, or you can mix things up by pairing it with stripes or even a zebra print (if you dare).
9. Slouchy Suiting
Forget stiff and structured — loose and oversized is the trend this year. And, you definitely don't need to wear a button-down underneath (although, it's still cool if you do). T-shirts and sneakers will give off a relaxed vibe, while pairing one with a bra and heels is a sexy, celeb-loved look.
10. Hot Pants & Microminis
Booty-baring cutoffs may be over, but other short, leggy styles have taken their place. It's time to trade your bike shorts for hot pants this year and embrace the itty-bitty mini skirt, which will no doubt be a welcome choice on hot summer nights.
